    As part of their English classes, the Saco Middle School and High School students kicked off the school year with the play Sleeping Beauty and the Beast by Wade Bradford. A mashup of several different fairy tales with familiar and lovable characters, the play was well received, and students embraced their individual roles with gusto.     As part of a unit on survival stories in English class, Saco High School students were able to enhance their knowledge with hands-on, real-world survival activities on March 7th. Survival instructor Rod Alne from Peak Fitness in Butte began the training in the classroom and focused on the survivor mindset, hiking preparation, and injury prevention and treatment.     The 2021 school year started with a bang, as students studied the Roaring 20s and read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. After completing the novel, the students each selected an icon from the 20s, researched that person, and then put together a presentation where they portrayed that character.     As part of a novel study on Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson, the Saco seventh and eighth graders got the opportunity to learn how to sew on Thursday, September 9. The novel, set in Vida, Montana, during World War I, depicts the struggles of sixteen-year-old Hattie as she tries to prove up on her claim. One such struggle is learning how to quilt.     Christopher DePuydt, Chandler Pippin, Jada Sudbrack, and Devon Salveson were among the 6,000 students, advisors, and guests from across the United States to participate in the 52nd National Leadership Conference of Business Professionals of America in Dallas, TX.     The Saco BPA chapter traveled to Billings for the 2018 State Leadership Conference held March 11-through-13th. There were 1,200 competitors from 84 schools all over the state of Montana and in this highly competitive competition, only the top five in each event advance to Nationals.
