  • Malta's Knudsen seeks HD 33 seat

    Mark Hebert, Editor|Mar 9, 2016

In January, Malta's Casey James Knudsen announced he would run for Montana's 33rd House District Seat and though he has always been interested in politics, he never thought he'd be a candidate at this point in his life. "I always thought about running, but I always thought it would be later in life," Knudsen said. "But you have to take the opportunity when it presents itself. You never know when there will be another open seat." The "open seat" Knudsen references came when Mike Lang, R-Malta,...

  • Why'd it have to be snakes?

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|Mar 9, 2016

Montanans worried that the state is going to put bison, wolves and grizzly bears in their backyards should be glad they don’t live in Massachusetts. Wildlife officials there plan to establish a colony of timber rattlesnakes on an island in the state’s largest body of water. • Play Ball Like a limp noodle

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Mar 9, 2016

I’m not going to name any names but a couple of months ago a gentleman came into our office in sup-port of his friend that is running for a political office. He seems like a cool dood, even a guy that I would hang out with in college but the poor guy had one huge flaw. He reached out to shake my hand after our conversation and to my dismay came the limpest hand-shake I have ever experienced. I know that the point of a handshake isn’t to break someone’s hand but it does say a lot about your...

I do declare! I have never had so many insects on my windshield in March before! It sounded like a rainstorm except the sky was clear! I felt the need to have a soak and swim on Saturday so I drove out to the Sleeping Buffalo! I know that many other people had the same thought as I did; the pool was teeming with swimmers! When I returned to Malta, I was just in time for volunteering at Bountiful Basket! That program is very worthwhile! Judy and Danny Simonson took in the state Class C...

The articles stolen are all marked with Mr. Koke's name and they will be hard to dispose of. Fifteen years ago (1901) There is talk of a ball between the business men o...

    Charlie Woodrum, National Weather Service|Mar 9, 2016

With the recent occurrence of an AMBER alert there have been several concerns that alerts did not reach mobile phones across several counties in northeast Montana. Some phones were not alerted because the option for Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) were turned off on individual’s mobile phones while others that had the service turned on still did not get the notification. While the dissemination process for WEAs continues to be improved, there are a few important things about Wireless Emergency Alerts to learn for not only the next AMBER a...

  • Adventure from America to Australia

    Kelli French, PCN Correspondent|Mar 9, 2016

The first part of the adventure is getting to Australia. It’s a minimum of 24 hour flight time no matter which way you go. I went from Billings, MT to Seattle, WA to Vancouver, Canada to Hong Kong, China to Perth, Western Australia (WA). Once you get past the traveling there, then it’s the time change that really gets you. Australia is 14 to 15 hours ahead of Montana, depending on daylight savings time. I found that the best way to adapt is to stay awake when it's daytime and then go to sleep when it's night. I know, sounds simple enough, right...
