  • New partnership allows NRCS to provide free fence markers for sage grouse

    Thanks to a new partnership with several agencies including Bureau of Land Management and Montana Association of Conservation Districts, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will now be able to offer free fence markers to interested landowners. Fence markers are used to reduce the risk of sage grouse collision with fences. NRCS can assist landowners in determining high risk areas where fence markers would be most useful in preventing collisions.     The Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp Counselors are back!! Vacation Bible School at the Malta Lutheran Church will be offered June 16-to-19 from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for kids entering grades Kindergarten-through six. Sack lunches need to be brought by the campers. Preregistration is encouraged and forms can be picked up and dropped off in the foyer of the Malta Lutheran Church.     The Montana Department of Health and Human Services recently released some tips and facts to keep Montanans healthy this summer. Prevention tips for dealing with mosquitoes are as follows. Wear protective clothing and use insect repellent. CDC recommends use of products containing DEET for adults and children over the age of 2. Limit outdoor activities at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.     Linda Berg has had family from Canada. First were three nieces; Mandy and Carla Laternus of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and Stacey Laturnus from Fort Murray. It was a fun time. A Cancer Benefit for Linda Berg was held in Whitewater in May. Surprise visitirs were Karla Lamb, niece from Billings, nephews Doug and Kelly Tribby from Great Falls and former classmate Maryanne Knoblauch from Shaunavan, Sask.     Jessica Aparicio of Zortman graduated with a Bachelor of University Studies in University Studies from Dickinson State University’s (DSU) 94th annual commencement on May 17.     Malta resident Kelsey T. Heiberg among the 3,104 North Dakota State University students to be placed on the spring 2014 Dean’s List.
