    On a day many would've stayed inside due to the dreary and rainy conditions over Malta, the Marian Hills Women's Golf League hosted its annual championship game and was able to complete the game en lieu of a one hour rain delay. The Championship event was filled with prizes for every hole, fellowship and fun on Malta's beautiful course.     The community of Whitewater nearly doubled in size last week as the school hosted its second annual North Country Maverick's Basketball camp. Seventy-plus campers attended the camp which featured many former local standout basketball players. Including current college players Jace Anderson and Kendall Denham, who played basketball for the Saco-Whitewater Panthers and Malta Mustangs respectively.   • Information update on Old US Highway 2

    The asphalt overlay and bridge replacement on Old US Highway 2 is now at the bidding process with contractor bids due July 7, 2016. The scheduled notice to proceed date is August 8, 2016 with a completion date of October 2017. The bridge will most likely be replaced this fall with the road construction starting in the spring of 2017. There will be a marked detour route during construction using the West Strater Road. Old US Highway 2 will not be widened, but will be rehabilitated and a new asphalt surface for 3.6 miles and a chip seal for 2.4...
