  • Mustangs Football: Malta slays the Wolves in the second half

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Oct 15, 2014

Tonight Malta will take on the Wolf Point Wolves at Mustang Field, with hopes of making the playoffs. If they don't win, they won't get in. "We need to defeat our next two opponents to get into the playoffs," said Mustang Head Coach Nick Oxarart. "We control our own destiny, that's the famous cliché." The Mustangs will have their hands tied, with the Wolves running a spread offense, loaded with talent. The team runs their spread out of Wing and Shotgun sets. "They're wanting to spread it out a...

  • M-ette Volleyball: Malta takes aim for 2B Volleyball crown

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Oct 15, 2014

The Malta M-ettes had a superb week as they defeated Plentywood, who was previously top ranked in 2B volleyball. Coach Julia Tatafu told the PCN that it was the first time in her three years as a coach that Malta has traveled to Plentywood and defeated the Lady Wildcats. "It was a big game for us, because we lost to them in five when they came here," Coach Tatafu said. "The team came out and played an awesome game." She went on to say that there were times they were down by a couple of points...

  • Wildfire Volleyball: Malmend shines on and off the court; Team racks up three wins

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Oct 15, 2014

The Saco-Hinsdale Wildfire had a good week, picking up two district wins against quality teams against Lustre last Thursday and Nashua. The Saco-Hinsdale Wildfire survived a clash against the Malta M-ettes JV team last Monday. Facing injury and fatigue, the team won the game in four sets. The scores were 25-18, 25-21, 17-25 and 26-24. Malta's Gym was loud and seemed pretty intimidating even after Saco-Hinsdale won the first two sets. As Malta's JV fought hard to force a fifth game,...

  • Going to Da Brook

Pretty big game for the Mustangs tonight, as they face Wolf Point in a game that could mean the playoffs for either team. I’m kind of bummed that I will not be at the game, but it is for good reason. Our darling son has yet to meet his paternal grandfather and uncles. So in an attempt to kill a few birds with one stone... (meaning taking a vacation and seeing the aforementioned), my wife and I are taking a treacherous 18 hour trip to Chicagoland, more specifically a southwest suburb called Bolin...

October 4 saw the Dodson-Whitewater Harriers at the always tough Havre meet. Class A, B, and C schools were in attendance, giving the Harriers their first look at some of the western teams. For the men, Jeret Warren placed 11th with a time of 17.55. Jeret was 60 seconds behind a strong Browning athlete who claimed first, and was the first Class C male runner to cross the finish line. • AMX Motorsports: 2 DAY RACE BENEFITS CANCER VICTIM

    Kari Hould, PCN Correspondent|Oct 15, 2014

Though there was plenty of room in the stands for more to be seated, the 2 day event that was held for the benefit of TJ Kindle hosted by the Dodson Speedway was deemed a success. Despite a usual Montana breeze and rain during the night, the families of racing enthusiasts managed to look beyond the nip of the cool morning and put on a show of volume and success. There was a record turnout of racers over the two day event, with sixteen cars showing up and competing for the honors and trophies. But there was more to be said about the giving and...
