Harlan Carl Derifield

Harlan Carl Derifield, 43, computer technician specialist died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at his home in Wichita.

Memorial services were August 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Kellogg Dr. Interment of his ashes will be at a later date.

Harlan was born September 17, 1970, the son of Robert Carl and Barbara Elaine (Kirkwood) Derifield. He was raised and educated in Wichita, graduating from Christian Challenge School in 1989. He recently graduated from W.T.I. with an Associate of Arts majoring in computer technology. He worked as a sales representative, a computer analyst, and a customer support representative for a number of different companies around Wichita.

Harlan married Cindy Norton in June 14, 1997. They later divorced. He enjoyed video gaming, working on computers and spending time with his children. He was always available to help his many friends with whatever task was needed. Harlan always had a smile on his face and was always ready to play a practical joke on anybody.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Derifield; his children Gabby R. Derifield Cain, Emma E Derifield Cain, and Tristan K. Derifield, all of Wichita; his uncles Ivan (Carol) Kirkwood of Wichita; and Greg (Jan) Kirkwood of Malta, Montana; and cousins Rick Kirkwood, Morgan Kirkwood, Sherri Kirkwood, JaTonna Straw, and Garren Kirkwood.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Carl Derifield; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his uncle Melvin and cousins Preston and Diana Kirkwood.
