One Nation, Under God

Public Square Rosary this Saturday in Malta

This Saturday, October 10, a Public Square Rosary will once again be held at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Malta at noon to say a prayer for America.

Tom Golik, who has been a Rally Captain for the Phillips County’s Public Square Rosary for the past four years, said he heard about the public gatherings in other towns across the country and decided that Malta should be holding one as well.

“Usually about 12 to 15 people show up each year, but everyone is welcome,” Golik said.

Golik said some years the Rosary is preceded by live music – Warren Taylor has been known to play at past events – and anyone who wants to play music at this year’s event, it is as simple as showing up and playing.

“If you want to play music, be down there and start playing,” Golik said.

In 2014, nearly 13,000 groups joined on the same day to simultaneously pray for the United States and the world.

Golik said that he will have pamphlets and rosaries available at the park on Saturday and the noon-time session is important because people across the country and the world will all be praying at the same time.

“We will also be doing the Pledge of Allegiance when we start,” Golik added.
