One Nation, Under God

Malta Chamber of Commerce News for week of December 16, 2015

This past Monday was the Night of Giving, a night where we could give back to those who give so much. Many shoppers took advantage of KMMR’s food bank coupons, making a donation to our local food bank and then a shopping discount at our stores. I can’t think of a better way to shop local and donate local! There were also collections for Toys for Tots and the Angel Tree program. This week, was also the Chamber/Merchant’s Button drawing. This was our way to give back to all of you, who support our community. Congratulations to our winners! If you didn’t get a chance to come downtown, we at the Chamber and Merchants encourage you to give back in your own special way. Whether it’s helping a neighbor, donating to your favorite charity, or spending time with someone, the ways we give back during the holidays and all year, is part of what makes our community so strong.

We are winding down the events for the holidays with the Chamber, but don’t worry there is still plenty of shopping time left. We will have one more late night opening this coming Monday, so if you haven’t completed your shopping, be sure you come downtown for Last Minute Night!

Tip of the Week:

Looking around town during Christmas, we see lots of shiny objects. Lights, trees, decorations and presents all vie for our attention. But, in thinking about managing our time at work, we can’t get distracted by the shiny objects that threaten to steal our focus and energy. Shiny objects at work are those projects or duties that are new, fun or exciting; but if we spend time focused on them, we miss the important duties and deadlines that are required of us. So when you stop to consider something to do at work, think, is this one of my priorities or just a shiny object!
