County Commish hold first meeting of the year

The Phillips County Commissioners held their first meeting of the new year last week in Malta with four items on the day’s agenda.

First up was a certificate of survey family exemption on a piece of land located just east of Malta. County Commissioner Bruce Christofferson explained that the survey was sought by a family looking to help get their children started in farming.

The second agenda item was resolution number 2016-01 which sets the commissioner’s meeting schedule for the year. Commissioner Christofferson explained that the meetings will continue to be held as they always have, each Monday of the week (unless Monday is a holiday) with public participation time to start at 1:45 p.m.

The third item of business on the day was Task Order dealing with the Immunization Program in Phillips County. Commissioner Christofferson said that the order entails some paperwork that needs to be complete between the county and the state which helps pay for immunization shots which are dispensed by the County Nurse during the year. (Jennifer Tollefson recently took over the Phillips County Nurse position following the retirement of longtime County Nurse Mary Lou Broadbrooks.)

The last item of business at the first meeting of the 2016 was the Phillips County Department of Health EMC Dispensing Plan. Commissioner Christofferson explained that the Emergency Medical contract between the County and health nurse. He said every six months the contract is reevaluated.
