One Nation, Under God

I'm with Dangerfield

I don’t understand why nearly every movie or popular song has to either be pro-fane, vulgar, sacrilegious or all of the above.

It seems that nothing is sacred anymore. The promiscuous world we live in has even reached the youth to the extent that it is “normal” for kids to lose their vir-ginity at preteen ages.

I saw an alarming commercial the other day saying that one in four teens have std’s. Yikes.

I know I risk being called “judgmental,” by even talking about this topic but hon-estly it breaks my heart that our culture has fallen so far away from abstinence and caring about what we pour into our kids.

It’s sad to me that I turn on the TV to watch a sitcom and within a few seconds a sexual reference is made; not even a subtle joke but in a vulgar and classless way.

Turn on the radio. Whether it’s country, rap, pop or rock, a good chunk of the music out there is not positive.

Movies are even worse. At times it seems foul language used in today’s movies are overcompensating for lack of skill, whether that skill is acting or writing.

There is no class in dropping F-bombs every other line. There is no class in de-meaning the opposite sex. There is no class in demeaning someone because they have different beliefs than you. There is no class in making fun of homosexuals. There is no class in looking down on those that are less fortunate that you. There is no class in making fun of the addicted.

Now it’s cool to have a movie about someone tripping on ecstasy, cocaine, alcohol or whatever?

If it’s cool to be addicted to anything, I feel sad about the state of our country.

We live in a country where people don’t even have respect for our leaders. No fear of consequences.

I’ve never been a fan of our political system but I wasn’t making fun of Clinton, Bush or Obama.

To me our Commander in Chief should be respected as such, no matter what race, belief or gender that Commander is.

I’m just saying, what happened to respecting ourselves, our neighbors and caring about protecting our kids?

I know that Hollywood is the source of most of what I just said. I also know that people young and old make their decisions but a glass can only spill what it con-tains.
