Virginia Mae Smith Duty

MALTA- Virginia Mae Smith Duty, 70, a homemaker passed away at Rosetta Assisted living in Helena, MT on April 24, 2016.

Her funeral services will be at 2 p.m., April 27 2016 (her 71st Birthday) at Kirkwood Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Heppner officiating. Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be left at http://www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

Virginia was born in Malta, on April 27, 1945 to Henry and Nellie (See) Smith. She was raised on a farm North of Malta, graduating from Malta High School in 1963. She attended Northern Montana College in Havre.

She married John Duty of Malta on June 19, 1966 in Malta. The couple had three children, Kaja, Jon and Gina. They farmed East of Malta for over 20 years. They divorced in December 1988.

Virginia worked for several years part time at First State Bank, she was a Fuller Brush representative, but her passion was her Green Thumb at Porters Green House for a number of years until she was disabled by brain aneurysms in December of 1991.

She spent the next 22 years living independently and enjoying life. The last three years were in Helena at Rosetta Assisted Living, bringing smiles to people's faces and being remembered for her Hugs and Laughter.

Virginia was preceded in Death by her mother Nellie (See) Smith, her father Henry Smith, and her grandson Thad Duty.

Survivors include her children, Kaja Duty of Billings, Jon and Chantel Duty of Helena, Gina and Justin Lamb of Malta; six grandchildren, Deven and Traeton Duty, Gerome, Jalen, Justine, and Giona Lamb.
