One Nation, Under God

Ranchers Stewardship Alliance invites public to gathering

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Ranchers Stewardship Alliance I would like to invite all residents and friends of Phillips County to our community celebration. Please join us for what we hope will be the first annual Phillips County Proud on Saturday, Sept. 17th at the Milk River Pavilion in Malta. The doors open at 5:30 and we will begin serving barbecue, burgers, and hot dogs at 6:00 p.m. There is no charge for the meal but a good will offering would be appreciated. There will be kids games conducted by Phillips County 4-H. There will also be live music by Trial By Fire later in the evening.

Our goal for this event is to bring all of us together to celebrate community. We wish to celebrate our respect and love for the part of Montana that we all choose to call home. The theme for this event is, “Celebrating our pioneering past and a vibrant future.” We will be remembering those that came before us. We will also celebrate those that have stayed or returned to the area. Plus we will welcome those who have recently joined our community. We encourage all families and businesses that have been here for 100 years or more to help us help you celebrate your history. To do that, please provide no more than six photos and a single paragraph story about your history and get those to Perri Jacobs. She can be reached at 658-2516 or [email protected].

The Ranchers Stewardship Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission includes the encouragement of livestock ranching and other traditional livelihoods which will sustain our native grasslands and rural communities for generations to come. We also engage in collaborative conservation with groups such as Duck Unlimited; The Nature Conservancy; MT Fish, Wildlife, and Parks; US Fish and Wildlife Services; Natural Resources Conservation Service; Conservation Districts; Montana Stockgrowers Association; UM Avian Science Center; just to name a few. We promote the understanding and respect for livestock ranching and the critical role it plays in grassland and wildlife conservation. We also coordinate educational programs to enable livestock ranchers to further promote their sustaiability.

We look forward to seeing you on September 17th and celebrating Phillips County Proud.

Thanks,

Leo Barthelmess

President, RSA
