Rancher's Stewardship Alliance to hold winter grazing workshop

Next week the Rancher’s Stewardship Alliance will be hosting a grazing workshop. The workshop is free and open to the public and will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday, February 27, at the Malta Business Center.

Rick Caquelin, Area Range Management Specialist for the NRCS will be giving two presentations. The first presentation will be on grass growth and response to grazing and the second is called I don’t need no stinking grazing system! and has information on different types of grazing systems and what to consider when developing your own grazing plan. Rick has been the Area Range Management Specialist for the last five years and raises cattle near Stanford, Mont.

There will be a third presentation by Emily Standley about quick and easy monitoring techniques for rangeland. Emily is one of two rangeland technicians hired by the Montana Rangeland Partnership to provide free, confidential assistance to landowners with rangeland monitoring and grazing planning.

Refreshments will be provided and there will be time for discussion so it should be an enjoyable and informative afternoon. For more information contact the RSA at 654-1405 or visit ranchstewards.org.
