PC Health, HLRC offer free support caregiver classes

The Phillips County Health Department and the Hi-Line Retirement Center are offering a six-class series designed to support caregivers of adults with a chronic condition in a way that enhances their well - being as they care for others. The first class will be held at the Hi-Line Retirement Center on Wednesday, June 14 at 4 p.m.

In the six classes, caregivers develop a wealth of self-care tools: change negative self-talk, communicate needs to family members/healthcare or service providers; communicate more effectively in challenging situations, recognize the message in their emotions, deal with difficult feelings; and make tough caregiving decisions. Class participants also receive a copy of the Caregiver Handbook developed specifically for the class.

Please contact Paula Enkerud, Social Worker at 654-1190, ext. 6025 or Jenny Tollefson, P.C. County Health Nurse at 654-2521 if you have any questions or need more information regarding these classes.
