One Nation, Under God

Two Chapters brought 406 Stars to Malta

The Order of Eastern Star was greatly represented by the 406 on October 6th.

Montana has many chapters of the OES however several are now officially combined or must hold an Official Visitation jointly.

The Malta Sacajawea #37 and Hinsdale Riverview #80 chapters held a joint Official Visitation that entertained over 40 members here in Malta.

The day started with checking into the motel room for our honored guests Worthy Grand Matron Margie Matovich and Worthy Grand Patron Butch Damuth.

Matovich and Sacajawea Worthy Matron Sarah Osmundson then set off to visit those members locally who are physically unable to attend the monthly meetings.

This year we visited Shirley Blunt, Ruth Flansaas and Virginia Koss who was temporary home in Montana from Kentucky.

These ladies are all special but we did express our gratitude to Bessie Mae Waters who is 101 years old, living at home and will be a 70 year member of the Sacajawea #37 in November.

Waters has held a real fondness for the OES over her many years of serving in several different offices. She still exhibits great kindness and gratitude for those keeping the stars shining.

A no-host dinner was enjoyed at the G.N. Lodge where our sister chapter Riverview #80 Worthy Matron Jodi Barnard and her mother Gayle Whitaker caught up with us. Thank you Tim and Arlyss Spear and staff for the great atmosphere.

The Official Visitation meeting was held at the Malta Masonic Lodge at 7:00 p.m. The ladies serving an office all wore a white dress and the men their best dress clothes.

There was much laughter and re-visiting of old friends and the making of some new.

Sacajawea #37 was even able to raise some money by holding a one-night-only raffle of an OES garden stepping stone created by Sarah and Russell Osmundson.

Yearly Riverview #80 has a Pumpkin Chunkin' at the Hinsdale Fall Festival as a fundraiser.

The OES of Montana raises money for local and statewide charities. Sacajawea #37 has donated to Warm Willy, Angel Tree, Toys for Tots, Malta Food Bank, HLRC, and this year will have individual members donate to a charity of their choice.

If you or family were a past/present member of the OES, Mason, Shrine, Rainbow or DeMolay please approach any of our members and get involved with a local Chapter.

WGM Matovich and WGP Damuth then attended the Chinook NorthStar Official Visitation on Saturday, Oct. 7, hosted by Worthy Matron Pamela Wadish.
