Area All-Conference athletes

Phillips County teams represented in yearly honors

The Malta Mustangs football team, Malta M-ettes and North Country Mavericks each had athletes in their respective All-Conference lists for the 2017 season.

In District 3C Volleyball, Saco senior Jada Sudbrack of the North Country Mavericks earned All-State Honors.

In District 2B Volleyball, Malta Senior Ella Schye earned First Team All-Conference honors. Malta senior Sam Mitchell and Malta junior Kloie Marks earned Second Team honors.

The Malta Mustangs, in their first season in the Northern B Division took up 14 spots in the 2017 All-State, All-Conference with seven athletes elected to the list.

Whitewater High School senior Trace Simonson and Tel Jenson were selected to the All-State list. Simonson received First Team All-Conference honors at Linebacker and Jensen received First Team All-Conference Honors at defensive end.

Simonson led Malta in passing yards with 761 yards and 12 touchdowns with 54 completions on 94 attempts (14.09 Average per completion). He also led in rushing yards with 825 and touchdowns (12) on 121 carries (6.82 YPC). Simonson earned 78 points for Malta, which was second on the year's point total for Malta.

Trey Simanton earned First Team honors at running back and Second Team honors at kicker. Simonson had 742 yards and 11 touchdowns on 97 carries (7.65 YPC). As a kicker Simonson made 14 of his 17 Point After Tries (82 %). Simanton was the leading scorer for Malta, accounting for a total of 101 points last season.

Senior Taylor Matthews earned First Team honors at defensive linemen and Second Team honors at offensive lineman.

Senior Konner Kuehn earned First Team honors at Tight End. Kuehn was the team's leading wide receiver in yards with 235 and first in touchdowns with five on 17 catches, which was also team leading. Kuehn scored 38 points for Malta, which was third on the team's list.

Junior Andres Lopes earned First-Team honors at Linebacker and Second Team honors at Running Back. Lopez had 379 rushing yards and three touchdown on 54 carries (7.02 YPC). Lopez accounted for 24 of Malta's Points last year.

Tanner Smith earned Second Team Honors at Defensive Back. Smith had one interception for Malta.
