Former M-ette honored

MSU- Billings holds ceremony for Bobbi Knudsen

Bobbi Knudsen, a former Malta M-ette and Montana State University Billings (MSUB) YellowJacket guard was honored on Saturday, January 6, in a special way.

Knudsen's number, 21, is the third in the history of MSUB Women's Basketball to be hung up in the Corridor of Champions, joining past MSUB greats such as Amy Winslow, Tera Silvius and Men's Yellowjacket greats Roy McPipe and Jim Soft.

Knudsen, the daughter of Jim and Janice Knudsen of Malta, was a three-time All-American with MSUB, leading the Jackets to the 2014 NCAA Division II Sweet 16, where they faced Cal-Poly Pomona for the West Region Championship.

Knudsen would become second in all-time scoring with 1,831 points for MSUB, second in field goals made with 680 and also second in assists with 532.

Knudsen was honored during a pre-game ceremony before the current Yellowjackets squared off against the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves.

"It was pretty humbling seeing everyone stand and clap, while I was walking around," Knudsen told the PCN. "It was a pretty cool moment because I didn't expect that at all. I didn't expect the award at all."

Knudsen remembers walking through the Corridor during her time at MSUB.

"You see the jerseys hanging and the wall and think, 'That would be pretty cool' but you never think that it's actually possible," Knudsen said.

After she was presented her jersey inside a plaque that will hang in the Corridor, Knudsen gave a speech to those in attendance.

"I was a small town girl and no one knew about me," Knudsen said during her speech. "You gave me the opportunity to play. You discovered me and here I am today."

She went on to humbly thank those that have supported her during her career.

"Looking at my jersey, I don't see me," Knudsen said. "I see my teammates. I see my coaches. I see the staff. I see my family; Everyone that has put in something to get me where I am today. Without them, I wouldn't be here."

Since her graduation from MSUB with a Bachelors in Biology in 2014, Knudsen played a season of pro basketball for USC Freiberg in Germany in 2014-15 and was an assistant coach for Seattle Pacific University in 2015-16.

Months before attending MSUB on scholarship in 2010, Knudsen helped the Malta M-ettes to win Class B State titles in 2007 and 2010.

Knudsen has realized many of her dreams related to the game of basketball. Now she will become what she has wanted to be since being a very young girl in Malta. A veterinarian.

"Ever since I had been six," Knudsen said. "It's been a goal."

Knudsen is currently attending vet school in Fort Collins, Colo.
