One Nation, Under God

Jeani W. Slater Henderson (July 20, 1941 - December 11, 2023)

Jeani W. Slater Henderson, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, left this world on December 11, 2023, at the age of 82. She joins the Lord as an angel to watch over her family.

Jeani was born on July 20, 1941, to Harold and Anna (Haugness) Slater at Glasgow, MT. Jeani attended Scobey through her grade school years and graduated from Malta High School in 1959. She married Joseph A Wilson on November 14, 1959. They had three wonderful children, Janas, Jodee and Jerry. Jeani worked at Trafton Doors, Ken's Thriftway, and found her niche keeping accounting books for Malta Auto Co. In 1977, looking for a new challenge, she went to work at Ezzie's. She set up the books on paper and switched over to computers as they became available. Keeping up with the fast changing technology, she also instructed several future bookkeepers. She retired from Ezzie's in 1995.

She married the love of her life, Bill Henderson, on June 29, 1988. They embarked on a challenge to build a cabin from the ground up in Essex. They also traveled the western US from Alaska to Louisiana.

Jeani enjoyed bowling league and kept the books for years. She mastered computers. She loved quilting and embroidery and still liked the feel of string in her hands. Jeani had a reputation for being a hard worker and cared for her family and only wanted the best for her grandchildren. She was known for being the first household to have a microwave in Malta and boasted to the grandkids about it. She could be loving and stubborn at the same time and would do anything for anyone without being asked. Laughter, fun and a "toddy" made her day.

Jeani is survived by her loving husband Bill, children Janas (Bim) Strauser, Jodee (Chuck) Lee, and Jerry Wilson, Ray (Alice) and Lee (Carolyn) Henderson. Grandchildren, Buster Strauser, twins Rylee and Morgan Strauser, Lance Lee, LeAnn (Curt) Haas, and her twin, SuSann Lee, Kelly Wilson, Dustin Wang, Anna Henderson, Rebecca Henderson, Jessica Henderson and seven great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Eleanor Knapp, Darlene Leibrand, and a brother, Leroy Slater.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Celia Robinson, and grandson Logan Wilson.

Services will be held Friday, December 29th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Malta Lutheran Church.
