Happy New Year! May each of you realize your dreams and goals!

Diana Engel and Layne Engel invited me out for lunch one day after Christmas. It was so fun seeing Layne as a father to a two-year-old! Visiting with my previous comrade from the Whitewater teaching staff was the icing on the cake!

I’ve received a few calls wishing me a happy new year from friends up north. Carol Lumsden said that Pete had the team out pulling the wagon for hayrides during New Year festivities!

Sounds like a lot of fun!

Several Loringites enjoyed the New Year's Eve Chinese dinner at the North Forty. Vince Mace was the chef and I heard it was delicious.

As I didn’t get the news in for last week, I’m now on the first Sunday of the new year! I had visitors this week also! Cary Woodruff of Miami and Danielle Miller brought my grand dog Hunter the Lab for a New Year’s call! He has gotten so large in the past year!

Today winter has set in with light snow. I heard at Loring this morning the snow was about an inch or a little more. It’s important that Montana gets snow in the winter otherwise it is drought with not enough moisture in the soil!

I have known for a long time that snowflakes have six points. But I wondered why so according to Wikipedia here’s the reason:

“All snowflakes contain six sides or points owing to the way in which they form. The molecules in ice crystals join to one another in a hexagonal structure, an arrangement which allows water molecules - each with one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms - to form together in the most efficient way.”

Congrats to the North Country Lady Mavericks and to the guys also on their showing in Basketball. Also, congrats to Kenan Labrie on his prowess on the wrestling mat! Congrats to Paige Wasson on signing to play basketball with the Rocky Battlin’ Bears for college next year!

Take care of yourself up there in Loring and north Phillips County! Let me know if the gophers come out! Lol
