One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for Wednesday, January 24, 2024

Greetings from the North Pole. It snowed and was -45 below last night in Whitewater. Some people declared it higher.

Bad news, my water and sewer froze up.

Sympathy to all who have some problems.

A salute to the pioneers (including myself), who were raised without water and sewer/plumbing. We had to be strong. I’ll ask Pat Dunbar (a local plumber) to come and thaw it all.

A few days ago, all basketball games and church were cancelled due to the weather.

Now, farmers and ranchers are busy feeding cattle, hauling hay and thawing frozen water for the cattle.

Ranchers deserve the pay, going out below zero temps.

Sympathy to all people and animals who must be outdoors.

Anyway, it has been a nice fall. We didn’t have snow until now. It was warm and lovely weather. Weather changes fast.

School is back in full swing after the holiday break. The children are fortunate enough to have two full meals each day at school.

When I went to school in first grade, we had to bring our own sandwiches, there was no lunch at all.

Cold days are good times to serve homemade soup and make homemade bread, it makes the house smell wonderful.

Stay warm!

Helen A.
