One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for Wednesday, January 31, 2024

On New Year’s there were fireworks (or gunshots) to celebrate 2024. Now the children have all gone back to school.

The Stemvicks from the Whitewater Baptist Church had their whole family here recently. They went caroling around town.

Again, Happy Birthday to Patti Young and all January birthdays.

Congratulations to the North Country Mavericks on their recent basketball games. There were games at the WHS. Taco soup was served and there was a silent auction.

Happy Birthday to Christina and son who share the same birthday in January, and to Howard Berg. He is the last of his family who lived here.

Gladys Berg, Howard’s mom, cooked at the school for years.

Here in Whitewater, we have endured 40 below or colder temperatures for almost two weeks. My water system froze up, and also the sewer and plumbing.

How is everyone else?

Well, my water thawed out. I’m not sure about the plumbing. I felt like a pioneer when I grew up in Whitewater. We didn’t have plumbing or water.

Here’s hoping you are warm!

Helen A.
