My friend Pat

My best friend passed away recently. We were neighbors most of our lives, until she had to move to a retirement home several miles away. We weren't always friends. When we were in grade school, we lived across the street from each other, and we used to throw insults at each other. After we both got married, we became close friends. When we started playing cards together at card parties people didn't want us to be partners because we seemed to always win. They would say "don't let Pat and Pat play together because they cheat!" We never did. We just knew how to win. She is gone now, and I miss her and our fun times together.
