    Mark Hebert, Editor|Feb 4, 2015

Richard and Lewellyn McNamara have lived their entire married life in Malta so it was only fitting that they would spend their 60th Wedding Anniversary in the town they have spent so much time in. Little did the couple know, but as the big day approached last week – with plans for a night out and dinner at the Great Northern – that plans would change and the Diamond Celebration would take place at an unlikely location. "We celebrated our 60th at the Phillips County Hospital," Lewellyn said. "Th...

  • Legislative hunting in the Treasure State

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|Feb 4, 2015

There ought to be a law. Or not. There are a slew of bills concerning outdoor issues that legislators in Helena are considering this session. Among them: one that would prohibit the use of unmanned drones for hunting or fishing purposes, and another that would ban possession of exploding targets on state land. Leave it to the Legislature to put a wet blanket on all the fun. Until recently, nobody except Jihadists on the run gave much thought to drones. Then they became the hot toy of the season...

No happy birthday card for our county turning 100 this week, no mention of the Malta Post Office hitting the 125-mark, nada. Nothing but jargon and agendas in these 12 emails. I wrote the sender of this onslaught a return email that, briefly, told...
