When it was snowing, temperatures dropped well below zero last week as the winter of 2018 continues to pound Phillips County. In Malta, snow started falling around 6 a.m. last Wednesday and didn't stop until approximately supper time on Thursday. Over 30 producers attended the annual Jim Schumacher Memorial Livestock Day on January 24, 2018. The first presentation was by Dr. Jeffery Hall, Professor at Utah State University Common. The St. Mary Rehabilitation Working Group (SMRWG) met on January 30, 2018, to discuss the rehabilitation of the 100-year-old irrigation project. Lt. We were out of town this past fall and a medical emergency came up where a family member had to be rushed to the hospital. This has come at an incredible expense to our town budget; of approximately $20,000. Dodson has almost closed down tight as the very severe cold hangs in and everyone stays pretty well inside. Last Friday morning saw 36 degrees below and we received several inches of new snow on top of the two feet we already had which nobody was happy about.
