  • Harms family opens Ray J's Barbecue in Malta

    Mark Hebert, Editor|Mar 4, 2015

The one question that Ray and Ann Harms have become all too familiar with lately is "so, when are you going to open?" That question was answered, without much warning, as the couple opened Ray J's Barbeque on Highway 2 in Malta last Wednesday at noon. Though the couple didn't advertise the soft opening, word of mouth and social media quickly alerted the public that Ray J's was open for business. What followed was a steady diet of customers Wednesday through Saturday. Following the lunch rush on...

    Mark Hebert, Editor|Mar 4, 2015

Though Kelbee Denham had no idea what the word "Flemish" meant, she gave it her best shot when asked how to spell it at last week's Phillips County Spelling Bee in Saco and, with a little luck, got it correct to win this year's contest. "I have never heard that word before, so I just guessed," she said after winning the Bee. Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|Mar 4, 2015

I didn’t see any sage grouse last hunting season and I hunt more days than not. While I found sharptail grouse, Hungarian partridge, and pheasants in their usual haunts, not a single...

  • I'm not that fat

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Mar 4, 2015

I'll assume that it was just an old disgruntled fan that decided to take his misfortunes out on me. Going into such a sacred place as the men's room, there should be no deep conversation, let alone a discussion about anyone's weight. This elderly gentleman aiming to make himself feel better, said "You're going to have a hard time like me getting into those stalls... and later said maybe I should think about going on a diet! This poor guy, was around sixty years of age, and could barely stand if...
