    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|May 3, 2017

I feel like shooting something. There must be an election on the horizon. Apparently, the No. 1 issue in the race for Montana’s lone congressional seat has something to do with firearms. Greg Gianforte, the Republican millionaire businessman, claims his Democratic opponent, Rob Quist, an old hippie and former member of the Mission Mountain Wood Band, is going to take our guns away. I’ve lived in fear all my life that someone was going to take my guns, but I never suspected it would end up bei...

  • A letter to Julia and Natalie

    May 3, 2017

Dear Editor, I would like to thank Julia Tatafu and Natalie Judd for their organization and leadership of the Tiny Tots Recreation Program that they started last fall and just this week concluded for the summer. They had the courage and energy to take on a group of 2-5 year-olds twice a week and attempt to teach them basic skills such as standing in line, throwing, kicking, and catching a ball, and even more valuable lessons such as following directions and playing nicely with others. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed going each time, and I...

  • Taking care of bison

    May 3, 2017

Dear Editor, I think mistreating bison is wrong. They are very good animals, and it would be a shame for bison owners to not take care of them. The ways I think we can help bison are: more reservoirs. That way, bison can have more space, because they can only go so far from a water source. Plus, they can still drink from a reservoir when other water sources, such as creeks, are dried up. We should give our bison vaccinations. That way, our bison don’t get sick. And the bison who are sick don’t make other bison sick. People should have few...

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|May 3, 2017

Sometimes social media videos can bring out all kinds of emotions in people. No, this isn’t about our President, but it is linked to America’s past time. Now that I’ve cleaned up my Facebook page from obnoxious keyboard politicians things are looking up. My page has since been overrun with sports and cute animal videos. I never in a million years thought I would enjoy videos of cats and baby goats but seeing my two year old react to those things is priceless. I also stumbled across some video...

As I drove to Malta on Saturday I noticed that many farmers were in their fields either planting or fertilizing.
