  • The better-half knows I'm lazy

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|May 24, 2017

I used to fight it and try to look busy, feigning ambition when I had none. Whenever I was asked what I was doing I would reply appropriately. “Oh, I’m getting ready to do this or that,” I would say, even if I had been caught in a stupor, staring into space. If I couldn’t pretend to be doing something productive at least I could pretend to be planning something of worth. Then we bought the cabin and I discovered the patio. It’s the perfect spot to indulge my slothful ways. Under a broad exp...

  • Curious about chickens in City

    May 24, 2017

Dear Editor, I find it curious indeed that a small rural town like Malta, which prides itself on its agricultural heritage, rugged individualism, self-reliance, and disdain of governmental regulation would reject such a fundamental idea of the Jeffersonian agrarian as being allowed to keep one’s own chickens! BJ Rhodes Malta, MT...

Being frustrated with a president that continuously whines about the what the press and uses a Twitter account like a spoiled seven year old. BUT this past week think he "blew it" and a Special Prosecutor has been put in place and to investigate the Trump/Russia connection among other things of question regarding the Trump campaign. Can hardly wait to read...

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|May 24, 2017

Somehow, something that was a tedious and sometimes strenuous chore became an experience that I never saw coming. My wife and I had been talking about upgrading our mower that cost me a whopping $35 a couple of years ago. I thought that it would be something that we would get in a couple of years due to other expenses we have as homeowners. But a couple of weeks ago it happened. This was after I was annoyed with my first attempt at mowing my yard this year. I was so annoyed that my bagger would...
