  • A man and his tags

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|Jul 13, 2016

Apparently the moon and the stars are in proper alignment. I’ve drawn every tag I applied for so far this year. My luck has been so good I’m actually expecting to draw an antelope tag next month. I suspect it’s all in my attitude. There was a time not so long ago when I was crushed if I wasn’t successful in the drawings. And I often wasn’t. But because I hunt birds now from Sept. 1 until January it really doesn’t matter. My dogs could care less if I draw a cow elk tag. In fact they would prefe...

  • Dreads not braids

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Jul 13, 2016

The summer of 2005 was the last time I had a haircut and because of that fact, I have a lot of hair. There have been perks to having this much hair. It hides the fact I have an enormous head, well kind of. My hair has been the topic of quite a few conversations over the past ten years, which has been interesting. For those who don’t know. My hair is a style called dreadlocks… Not braids. Not cornrows. You can’t unravel my hair. I would have to cut them out. It takes about three hours to twist my...

  • Is proper signage a possibility for the library?

    Jul 13, 2016

Dear Editor, Once again while working out in my yard, a visitor to Malta stopped to ask me where the library was located. This has happened several times during past years. I happily replied that the tan building across the street from my house was indeed the public library. It was pointed out to me that no where on the building is there any type of sign announcing that it was indeed our library. The visitor found the large blue Mustang sign very confusing as at the top of the sign it says Malta High School and shows the mustang. My suggestion...
