M-ettes Sub-varsity teams pick up wins against Harlem

Malta’s Junior Varsity and C-squad both won their matchups against Harlem on Thursday night during the team’s home opener.

The C-squad won their games 25-23, 25-12 and 15-7.

“We had a couple of rotation calls in the beginning because we started a brand new rotation yesterday, but the girls came together and they worked together as a team,” C-Squad Coach Kalli Reintjes told the PCN. They came out from that. We had good serves and our team was playing really well together.”

She mentioned that the team was talking really well, which was key to their victory.

The team had 20 aces and was led in that category by sophomore Macy Knudson who had seven.

“Fifty percent of her serves were aces,” Coach Reintjes added.

The team lost to Chinook after three games.

“We just weren’t communicating good as a team,” Coach Reintjes said. “We weren’t moving our feet to the ball, so Wednesday at practice, that’s what we worked on.”

The Junior Varsity Squad also won their match against Harlem. The scores were 25-17, 25-17 and 15-11.

The team was led by Kyleigh Schipman who had six aces. Julia Meisdalen had a team high four kills.
