One Nation, Under God

Best week ever? Not so much

Well, it is official. My luck has run out… I am not a billionaire. The major $1.5 billion Powerball was won this last week. Unfortunately, the tickets I purchased were duds. You’re four times more likely to get struck by lightning than winning the lottery. Thankfully I dodged a bullet on the lightning too. My luck got even worse Sunday when Peyton Manning and the Denver defense knocked my Cinderella-Steelers out of the postseason. I cannot catch a break; hopefully things will be different this week.

I have a very exciting NBA matchup to look forward to this evening. Hopefully LeBron and the Cavs can make up for the Steelers loss. They take on the defending champion Golden State Warriors, who have made the greatest 40 game start in NBA history. I’m quite confident in the ability in the big three in Cleveland, Kyrie Irving has been progressing and is playing out of his mind on offense. It will be a very exciting game.

After going through Syllabus week at MSU I am thankful for stress relieving activities. There is nothing better than athletic competition. Amidst all the stress the average American faces in their daily lives, there is always the escape of sports. I know that nothing can clear your head more than a game of basketball, and I’m sure many of my friends would agree. Pick up a ball and shoot. It’s that simple… rinse, wash, repeat and you’ll find yourself forgetting all of your problems. Return to your day with a level head and the possibilities are endless.

I have a good feeling about 2016. My resolutions are holding strong, and I haven’t given in to the temptation of McDonald’s yet. I’m hoping to save money by eating home cooked meals this year. I really should treat my body better, and that’s the goal. It was nice eating a decent meal every night while I was home over break. Man, I miss my mom. They don’t tell you that the hardest part about growing up is not eating your mother’s meals every night. Among other things…

The only advice I have for you is to hold on to every moment for what it is worth. Don’t get caught on the past, and don’t spend too much time worrying about the future. Before you know it you’re stuck in the same spot wondering what you could have done different. Take some chances, get lost in your passion, and never give up on your dreams. Eventually you’ll find yourself accomplishing things you never thought possible. Growing up doesn’t have to be horrible.
