Penguins seventh at Eastern C

Simonson places in four events, Simanton two; Season ends for Dodson, Saco boys

The Eastern C Divisional was hosted last week in Sidney and all three Phillips County Class C teams were represented at the meet. Whitewater was the only team to post points. The Penguins took seventh at the meet with a total of 30 points, qualifying all three athletes for the 2016 State C Track meet in Missoula tomorrow.

Richey-Lambert won the meet with 119 points, Fairview took second with 89 and Savage took third with 85.

The Penguins were led by Trace Simonson, who placed in four events. Trace took second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.56 which is a new best. He took third in discus with a throw of 122-8, fourth in javelin with a throw of 141-3 and fifth in triple jump after posting a length of 38-0.

Trey Simanton took fourth in the 110 hurdles with a new best of 17.35 and fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.69.

Cody Scheffelmear placed fifth in high jump after clearing 5-4 which is a new best.

For Dodson, Tyrese Messerly cleared 5-2 but took eighth in the event. David Jaynes took fifteenth in shot put with a throw of 32-8.

The Saco Panthers were led by Chris DePuydt who posted new bests in the 200 with a time of 25.51 and in the 400 with a time of 58.56 and long jump 17-3 3/4 but did not place. He also cleared 5-2 in high jump.

Josh Salveson took eleventh in pole vault after clearing a new best 8-0. Salveson took fifteenth in the 300 hurdles with a new best of 55.87.

Chandler Pippin took twelfth in the 400 with a new best of 62.80, thirteenth in the 100 with a time of 13.94, thirteenth in the triple jump with a length of 31-11 ¾.
