Box store no longer mails prescriptions

The world of pharmacy is continually changing and evolving to match increased pressure and rules deemed necessary by PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) across the country.

Due to PBMs becoming more stringent on all pharmacies, prescriptions will no longer be able to be mailed by a pharmacy unless deemed as a Mail Order Pharmacy.

Recently, Wal-Mart in Havre, Mont., announced that it will no longer be able to mail prescriptions which goes into effect on Wednesday, December 1, 2016, according to a Havre Wal-Mart pharmacy employee.

Valley Drug of Malta’s Greg Ziegler said he will pick-up where the box store has fallen short and hopes to beat or at least match the prices from the Havre facility.

“We will do everything we can to ensure that the members of this community get the medicines they need,” Ziegler told the Phillips County News.

Ziegler asked that people whom this change might of affected to bring in their prescription information and receipts, and the pharmacy staff will try to match or beat the price for all prescription medications.

“Valley Drug has been part of this community for over 100 years and would like to continue serving the people of the community by providing prescriptions and other goods in the most convenient way possible,” he added.
