About town Christmas activities

December 14, 2016

The innocence of kids during the holidays is one of the things that keep us all young. The sparkle of a child’s eye when looking at a Christmas tree, their joyful noise when singing carols or pure happiness when thinking about Christmas morning; without them the holidays just wouldn’t be the same.

This weekend, if you are still looking for that right gift for your kids or those young at heart, stop into the shops in Malta. Toys, books, games, radio controls and personalized gifts can all be found in town. Many shops will be open longer hours through the weekend and on Monday night. They will also be open extended hours each day during the week leading up to Christmas for your last minute shopping! There are many deals and specials that will be running, please check with your shops for details.

No need to cook dinner on Monday night. Stop by the Malta High School’s European Literature Tour Group’s taco dinner at the Malta Business Center. The free will donation helps this group of kids make their way to an incredible experience.

Monday is our third and final Chamber button drawing. Good luck!

Looking for some other family friendly activities to add to your holiday preparations?

• Take drive through town to look at the Christmas lights. There are some beauties out there.

• Grab a hot chocolate from your favorite coffee shop. Add a candy cane for a special touch.

• Gather your favorite Christmas books and have a family reading night. Our shops or the library can help if you are looking for some new ones.

• Pay it forward and make a donation to your favorite local non-profit, give to Toys for Tots or the Angel Tree program at local sites.

• Grab a few friends, print out the lyrics to your favorite carols and take to the streets.

• Treat your kids this weekend to the Christmas movie at the Villa and sleigh rides from the Wagon Train. Check local media for details.
