Celebrating Boys & Girls Club Week

Malta Boys & Girls Club is inviting the community to join them for National Boys & Girls Club Week. This special celebration offers the general public the opportunity to experience the life changing programs the Boys & Girls Club offers to children and teens in Malta.

A part of National Boys & Girls Club week, the Malta Boys & Girls Club will join more than 4,300 Boys & Girls Clubs across America and on U.S. military installations as they host a weeklong celebration featuring, the many ways our local Club opens the door to great futures through outcome driven programs that focus on encouraging youth to make healthy choices, build strong character and succeed academically.

“Day in and day out, our Boys & Girls Club staff and mentors deliver quality experiences that make a difference in a youth’s life beyond their time at the Club. Research shows that kids who have an optimal experience at our Clubs are also more likely to have positive self-esteem, volunteer, and be engaged in school,” said Club Director, Sonia Young. “National Boys & Girls Club Week is a special time when we welcome the community to witness the amazing impact Clubs have on the lives of kids and teens.”

Along with Boys & Girls Club tours, supporters can visit Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s new and improved online tour, by visiting BGCA.org/BGCWeek. Viewers will be able to experience a virtual Boys & Girls Club and discover how Clubs help young people reach their full potential. Planned activities during National Boys & Girls Club Week at Malta Boys & Girls Club include:

FREE Afterschool Admission for students enrolled in Kindergarten through age 18, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week; Students can check out the Club, receive a nutritious meal, outdoor playtime, and fun activities in the Game Room, Power Hour and Arts & Crafts Centers; Each student who attends Club during National Boys & Girls Club Week will be entered into our drawing to win a FREE 2017 Summer Membership or a FREE 2017-2018 School Year Membership!

Celebrate Boys & Girls Club Spirit Week – On Monday: Enter a poster contest, “What I Love Best About My Club” or Design a BGC Mascot for our Club; on Tuesday: Invent a Club Hand Shake; Learn About Staff & Kids; on Thursday: Wear Blue & White and get your face painted. All week long kids can earn tickets to put in a jar to vote on which Club Staff will get a “Pie in the Face!” at the end of Club on Thursday.

To finalize the week-long celebration there will a Free Family Fun Winter Olympics Game Night on Thursday, March 30th. Families will be competing in Winter Olympic Themed games such as: Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Curling, Skiing Moguls, and the Luge. Medals will be awarded. Registration is at 6:15pm, Opening Ceremony at 6:30pm, followed by the Games and then a 7:30pm Closing Ceremony. All ages are welcome, but children MUST be accompanied by an adult, as this is a “family” fun event.
