Golf event for MAC on Saturday

Marian Hills will be host to the 1st Annual Malta Athletic Club Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 8.

“All of the funds and proceeds minus the expenses we have for prizes and expenses to the Tin Cup will go right to the Malta Athletic Club,” Dean Yeadon of the Malta Athletic Club told the PCN.

The event gives golfers a chance to help the local youth in their sporting endeavors.

“It’s just a way to raise some money to put in the bank so we can donate and give back to the youth of Malta and help out the high school,” Yeadon said. “Anything we can do for the Malta youth as far as athletics go, we do what we can.”

The event will be an 18-hole, 4 person scramble with one mulligan per each nine and the game will have a handicap of 12 percent.

“Everyone will tee off and hit the ball and then teams will take the best ball from there,” Yeadon said. “Everybody will hit from that same spot until the hole is reached.”

The event was originally set to happen on Saturday, June 17 before strong a.m. rain stopped the event in its tracks.

The rescheduled event is set to start at 9 a.m. with a Calcutta at 8:30 a.m. The cost per person will be $60 / or $240 per team. Participants can sign up at the Tin Cup or by calling Yeadon at 654-4662 or Greg Skiff at 654-7505 by Friday, July 7, one day prior to the event.
