Notice regarding Public Hearing related to potential CDBG-ED project

Phillips County will hold a joint public hearing on December 21, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at the Malta Opportunities Day Activity Center, 11 South 3rd Street East. The hearing is for obtaining public comment on a proposed economic development grant application for renovations to the Malta Opportunities Day Activity Center, under the Montana Community Development Block Grant Program administered by the Montana Department of Commerce. At the public hearing, the proposed application will be explained, including the proposed area of the project, activities, and budget. All interested persons will be given the opportunity to express their opinions regarding this proposed application. Testimony may be given orally at the hearing or submitted and received in writing on or before December 21, 2017. The CDBG-ED application will be submitted by Phillips County on behalf of Malta Opportunities. The purpose of economic development grants is to create or retain jobs for low to moderate income (LMI) individuals. Malta Opportunities risks closure due to compliance issues, if repairs to the facility are not completed. Such a closure would result in the loss of 20 jobs within Phillips County, in addition to displacing numerous residents with disabilities. Anyone who would like further information or who wants to submit comments in writing should contact Eryn Nissen, Community Planner, Bear Paw Development, 406-265-9226, 48 Second Ave., Havre, MT 59501. Portions of the CDBG-ED Application are available for review at Malta Opportunities during regular office hours. Phillips County will make reasonable accommodation for any known disability that may interfere with a person’s ability to participate in this public hearing. Persons needing an accommodation must notify Phillips County no later than December 18 to allow adequate time to make needed arrangements. You can call (406) 654-2429 or write to PO Box 360, Malta, MT 59538 to make your request known.
