New Mustang Foundation College Scholarship Available

Mustang Foundation announces the Einar Monsson Veseth and Alida Simonsdtr Njaastad Scholarship.

Former Malta resident Ole Veseth is pleased to announce the creation of a new scholarship administered by the Mustang Foundation. Named for his parents, the Einar Monsson Veseth and Alida Simonsdtr Njaastad Scholarship will award $2,500 to two qualifying high school seniors or current college students who graduated from Malta High School and are pursuing degrees in Education.

“Helping students become teachers and influence another generation is the goal of this scholarship,” said Ole, who resides in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. “My father emigrated from Norway in 1916 and his fiancé waited nine years for him to establish himself in the United States before coming to Montana. He was a rancher, a police chief, and mayor of Malta. Most importantly, he was a great father to my brother Andy, sister Edda, and myself. My mom took care of us while he was ranching and I know she truly loved her time in Malta. Education was very important to my parents, and this scholarship is in their honor.”

A 1949 graduate of Malta High School, Ole attended Colgate University before serving in the United States Air Force in Germany and then living in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. After retirement, he and his wife traveled the country, often volunteering for the National Park Service. They spent many years in Tucson, Arizona before Pat's death in 2014.

“Malta will always be special to me,” said Ole, “and this gift is to honor my parents and enrich the lives of others.”
