Donald "Mac" G. McKnight

Donald "Mac" G. McKnight of Havre Mont., 59, passed away peacefully of natural causes Dec. 17, 2017, at Benefis Health Care.

Celebration of life will be held spring of 2018.

Donald was born Dec. 21, 1957, to Jeanette (Potaracke) and Richard McKnight in Joliet, Illinois. The family moved to Montana and settled in at Vaughn, Mont. He graduated from Simms High School in 1976. He was active in basketball, football, track and held many school records.

In May of 1980, he headed to Zortman, Mont., to begin his career in mining gold. In November 1987 while visiting his father in Scottsdale, Ariz., he met his future wife, Sharon, a Florida girl. They married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho May 27, 1988, and a year later, on May 23, 1989, their son Andrew was born. They later settled in Havre, Mont., in 1995.

Donald worked for the City of Havre. In Donald's spare time he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox and listening to Alabama and George Strait.

Donald is survived by his wife, Sharon, and his sons, Andy (Nikki) McKnight of Havre, Mont., and Scott (Jeni) McKnight of Billings, Mont .; brothers Rick (Maggie) McKnight of Calgary, Canada, and Kelly (Judy) McKnight of Apache Junction, Ariz., and sister Mickey Caldwell of Great Falls, Mont .; his three grandchildren, Harper, Kendall and Kane, and numerous nieces, nephews and Beau the dog.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette (Potaracke) and Richard McKnight, and his siblings Cindy, Kim, and Doug McKnight.
