Dennis Zane Robinson

MALTA- Dennis Zane Robinson, a US Navy veteran, died Wednesday, December 27th at his home after battling cancer. He was 70 years old.

Denny is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served on the USS Pine Island destroyer and the Hancock aircraft carrier. He was born in 1947 in Cut Bank, Montana and as a young child, lived in Sunburst and Ferndale, Montana. He moved to Malta in 1960. Denny served six years in the United States Navy.

Upon returning to Malta, Denny worked for the county and drove trucks for the elevators. He began driving a school bus when the mines opened at Zortman, and for years, he drove the Zortman bus route. He also drove the school activity buses, which he loved.

Denny is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Joyce Robinson of Malta, his daughter, Dawn Michelle Hogwood (Clint) of Fruitland, Idaho, his son, Chad Lee Robinson (Jamie) of Greenwood, Arkansas, his step daughter, Raelynn Robinson (Mark) of Malta, MT, his sister, Roseanne Carpenter (Lee) of Sun Prairie, MT, many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Zane Wiley Robinson and Doris Maxine Atkinson.

Denny loved working on and restoring old cars, reading Westerns and war stories, gathering antiques, and riding his motorcycle. He loved all animals, especially his Boston terrier, Gizmo. He had many wonderful friends whom he loved very much.

Denny was a member of the American Legion Post 57 (PO Box 957 Malta, MT 59538) and VFW Post 4027 (PO Box 714 Malta, MT 59538) in Malta. Memorials may be made to either of these organizations in honor of Denny.

A memorial service with military honors will be planned for the spring of 2018, with a date to be announced.
