Coyotes beat Roy-Winifred in OT

Lady Coyotes fall to Outlaws and Rangers

The Coyote Den was full for the first home games for the Dodson Coyotes and Lady Coyotes on Friday, January 5.

The Coyotes were able to defeat the Roy-Winifred Outlaws 56-52 in overtime despite trailing for over three quarters in regulation.

"It was kind of going bad in the beginning," Corbin LoneBear told the PCN. "We stayed with them for a bit and in the third quarter they kind of took off."

Shaun Ball, who had 18 points, led Dodson in scoring. LoneBear had 12 points including a game-tying put back and four points in overtime.

Prior to the fourth quarter LoneBear had four fouls which messed with him during the game.

"Heads were down and my head was really down," LoneBear said. "I came back in the fourth."

LoneBear was happy with the turnout of the crowd.

"The crowd started helping us out and giving us momentum, getting our adrenaline up and we started making shots," LoneBear said.

David Jaynes had nine points, Tyrese Messerly and Caleb Ditmar each had seven points and Michael Jaynes had three.

LoneBear could only watch as his team clawed back from a ten point deficit. He was impressed by what he saw, taking notice of a two-for one opportunity that Ditmar capitalized on.

"He had two back to back layups," LoneBear said. "It was good."

On Thursday, January 4, the Coyotes defeated WGR 43-37.

The team was led by LoneBear, who scored 13. Ball and Ditmar eached scored 10. D. Jaynes added seven and Messerly had three.

The Lady Coyotes lost to the Lady Outlaws on Friday, January 5, 72-30.

Melony Fetter led the Lady Coyotes with 12 points. Donna Dale scored seven, Christina Jaynes had six points and Shontelle Talks Different added three to the tally.

On Thursday, January 4, the Coyotes and Lady Coyotes squared off against Winnett-Grass Range (WGR) in their first action of the year.

In the Lady Coyotes 66-28 loss to Winnett-Grass Range, Dodson was led by Fetter who had 10 points. Dale had eight, Laney Cole had five, C. Jaynes had four and Talks Different had two.

The Coyotes and Lady Coyotes teams are scheduled to face Frazer on Friday, January 12 in Frazer and then Lustre in Dodson on Saturday, January 13.
