Lady Coyote lose close games

Dodson nearly catches Frazer, fall to Lustre Christian

The Dodson Lady Coyotes lost a pair of close games last weekend as they fell to Lustre and Frazer.

In their game against Lustre in Lustre on Friday, January 12, Dodson lost 66-60. Melony Fetter led the team with 21 points. Shontelle Talks Different scored 16 points. Kyla Racine had 12 points.

Racine, a senior who had trouble with fouling out over the past couple seasons, posted one of her best defensive nights of her career.

"Kyla had one of the best games she has had ending the game with 12 points and only one foul," Coach Deserae KillEagle said. "I think she was more excited about the one foul more than anything, as she has struggled with foul trouble in the past."

Coach KillEagle also mentioned a couple of strong defensive efforts by other Lady Coyotes over the weekend, specifically mentioning Tiffany Cliff and Christina Jaynes.

"Tiffany has shown so much heart and hustle that her work ethic on the court gives me the goose bumps," Coach KillEagle said. "She's all over the place causing the other team to throw the ball away and miss their buckets."

Dodson played close throughout the game being outscored 17-12 in the first and then outscoring Frazer 13-12 in the second quarter, trailing 29-25 at halftime. Frazer would outscore Dodson 20-16, ending the third quarter with a 49-41 lead. Dodson would outscore Frazer 19-17 in the fourth quarter, keeping them within two possessions.

Dodson lost 40-31 to Lustre Christian on Saturday, January 13 in Dodson. The team was led by Christina Jaynes who scored 10 points.

"Heading into our Luster game the girls seemed ready to fight for a win but offensively our shots were not falling and we got ourselves into some foul trouble first half from not boxing out," Coach KillEagle said.

After scoring only eight points and giving up 23 in the first half of the game, Dodson's offense outscored Lustre 13-8 in the third period and then was held to seven points in the fourth quarter.

Lustre had 21 attempts at the charity stripe, sinking 16 shots.

Dodson will host Scobey on Friday, January 19.
