Absentee ballots for primary mailed May 11

Absentee ballots for the June Primary Election will be mailed to eligible voters on Friday, May 11, 2018, as elections are being held for a county commissioner position, a new sheriff/coroner and clerk & recorder/surveyor/auditor in contested, Republican races and for superintendent of schools, treasurer/assessor, and county attorney in races with only one candidate. (There are no Democrats seeking election in June and the Justice of the Peace position is a non-partisan election with only incumbent Gayle Stahl seeking to be elected thus her name will only appear on the November ballot.)

Phillips County has 2,458 registered voters as of today. Of those, 1,755 vote by absentee or (about 72-percent.) Voters are allowed to vote for any of candidates they want, regardless of where the voter lives in the county. Voters who are not on the absentee list may request an absentee ballot until noon the day before the June 5th Primary date. All voters who are not on the absentee list will vote at the Courthouse Atrium, lower level from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If anyone has questions, please contact the Elections office at 406.654.2423. The Phillips County News will be running candidate Q&A stories around the time of the absentee ballots being mailed.
