One Nation, Under God

Loring News for May 2, 2018

This Saturday was the demise of many gophers in our area. A total of 28 were out seeing the sites and stopped in Loring at the Fire Hall fundraiser! The youngest person was Ivan Lefdahl, about 10-12 years old, teaming up with his grandpa Vic Lefdahl. I'm not sure who the oldest was... Many of the teams came in at noon for grilled burgers, fried onions, and French fries! Kenny Clark was the ramrod for the event. Dixie Stordahl, Paula Morrison, Carol Lumsden and Whitney Blunt helped with flipping the burgers. Many businesses donated prizes for the drawings. First place was Kevin Beck and Bob Neddleton with 254 kills. I'm happy to report that there were no injuries for the whole day! I'd like to give a shout out to my reader from Florida, Ramsey! Come to Phillips County and try your hand!

Several teachers and grade 6-12 students traveled to Havre for a field trip to the City Beneath the Streets and the Buffalo Jump. The students were impressed!

Many people attended the carnival in Whitewater on Thursday. I won several prizes at bingo and a cake! I'm not sure how everyone else did but I know Samuel Simonson had quite a pile of cakes!

I spent some time at the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum on Friday getting geared up for the new season. It's our 10th year in the new location and it's going to be an awesome year!

I spent a few minutes visiting with Marie and Earl Wasson! Even though Marie has a broken hip, she seemed in good spirits. That is 90-percent healing power! Also, Earl was right on the mark in our conversation!

The politicians were out on Sunday, asking for votes on June 5. Good luck to all of them.

The machinery is serviced; the grain is cleaned; most of the spraying is finished; just waiting for it to dry out so they can get in the fields. Most of the calves are on the ground and waiting to be branded and pushed out to pasture.

No service at the Loring Lutheran Church on May 6th. Have a great week everyone! Happy May Day!
