Eastern Star News for May 30, 2018

May 2018,

The Malta Mason Lodge #57 and Order of Eastern Star Sacajawea Chapter #37 once again placed markers at the Malta Cemetery. The weather cooperated as nine people busily placed close to 100 markers. This has become an annual event of honor for the members to perform. Several more Mason markers were added this year and a few different past OES were represented this year since there are limited markers for them.

The Malta Cemetery Director David Rummel guided all to the correct areas for marker placement. A lot of time was spent doing research in the Lodge archives, at the Phillips County Museum and Malta Cemetery and online by Doc Curtis, Sarah Osmundson and LaRae Blunt to create a list and map of the deceased members. There were seven members of Lodge #57 placing markers and two were representing both Lodge #57 and Sacajawea #37: Russell Osmundson and Greg Oxarart and the lone Sacajawea #37 member Sarah Osmundson. May many enjoy the recognition of their family members this Memorial Day weekend until June 4th when the markers are removed until next year.

The OES will hold the Montana Grand Chapter meeting in Billings, Mont. on June 13-16. Two members of Sacajawea #37 plan to attend and take our Garden Basket and the Hinsdale Riverview #80 Variety Basket for the donated youth silent raffle.

The Grand Lodge of AF&AM of Montana will hold the 152nd Annual Communication in Sidney, Mont. on June 21-23. Reminder: all members in good standing and wanting to attend please register by June 1, 2018 tickets are limited and availability not guaranteed after then.
