One Nation, Under God

Extreme Midget Wrestling is coming

Things are a bout to get a little rowdy at Malta's City Hall on Monday, July 2, as Extreme Midget Wrestling's (EMW), The Baddest Lil Show on Earth, will be in town.

"People can expect little four-foot wrestlers doing flips and chaotic wrestling moves," said Chris Penn, Vice-President of Extreme Midget Wrestling. "Expect entertainment, comedy and all that good stuff."

Penn went on to say that the event will feature anywhere from six to eight midget wrestlers. According to a poster that EMW had submitted, the names of possible wrestlers include Eddie Vato, Rampage, Red Neck Brawler, Bruce Lee Roy, Biker Mike, Baby Jesus, and Nasty Boys.

The idea for the event came as Susan Green, a Mint Bar Co-Owner was approached about the possibility of hosting a midget wrestling event months ago.

The two-hour event will be anything but short-and-sweet, and is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. but the doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

"There are usually about four matches and a royal rumble at the end," Penn said.

Concessions will be served by the Squirrel's Best and adult beverages will be available all evening. Green also went on to say that the event is family friendly.

"I did it that early because we will have concessions," Green said. "You can go grab your kids and not have to worry about cooking."

Green originally had another, less known group set to come to Malta, but things fell apart.

"We had a deal lined up and of course that deal fell through, so we found these guys," Green said. "I figured that there were a lot of people excited to have something like this come to town."

Green was relieved that the Extreme Midget Wrestling Group was the first group that came up on her internet browser. The group may be familiar to people around Phillips County, who saw them in Havre last year.

"It's just something different," Green said.

Tables of eight are available for the event. Individual tickets bought at the door will be $25 for those ages 11 and up and $15 for ages 10 & Under. Tickets bought in advance will be $20 for ages 11 and up and $10 for those 10 & Under.

There is also a drawing for a front row table. A spot in the drawing can be purchased for $10 a space at The Mint Bar until spaces are filled. Roughly 40 of 100 spots in the contest were available on Wednesday, April 13.
