Reporting smoke and Altersense registration

Because of the increased fire danger and fire calls, the Phillips County Fire Department will not be dispatched to calls of smoke in an area. If you suspect there is a fire please call Phillips County Dispatch to see if it is yet reported, but also investigate the source of the smoke. Our resources are limited and this season is poised to be a very busy one. Give the dispatcher as much location information as possible and remember our fire departments are volunteer organizations that are dedicated to helping, but also cannot be chasing ghost fires merely based on smoky conditions.

Please register your phones with Phillips County’s Emergency Notification System “Alertsense”. Your house phone is already in the system unless you have moved, or have an unlisted number. If you want notifications on your cell phone you need to self register at http://public.alertsense.com. You can customize your alerts to fit your needs as well as get alerts for other properties you may own in the county. If you are already a subscriber log on and verify your information. Due to system upgrades your settings may have been altered.

Remember the Sheriff’s Office can receive emergency 911 text messages. If you have no voice service often times text messages will get through. If you have service please call first, response times will be much faster.
