4-H Club fair and show on Aug. 27-28

A county 4-H Club fair junior livestock show will take the place of the Phillips County Fair this year due to war time exigencies, according to a decision reached at a meeting of the County Fair Board this past week.

Abandonment of plans to hold the county fair with its usual carnival, day time and evening programs, races and exhibits of all kinds, marks the first time since the fair was established that a general county fair has not been held.

The Phillips County Fair Board membership includes Edgar Lee, S.E. Kodalen, B.J. Schmitz, J. Russel Larcombe, and Henry Hedges.

Better Snake Story

St. John, barber at the Passtime, killed a rattlesnake with five rattlers in the door of the Penney Building on Front Street, according to Police Chief A.W. Pray, whose theory is that the snake was brought to town on a car or truck.
