Sun sets on 103rd Phillips County Fair

The 103rd Phillips County Fair is in the books and if you didn't get your fair share of burgers, 4-H competitions or grandstand fanfare, the next fair is only 360-something days away and the Fair Board is already planning the fun and games for the 104th installment of Montana's longest continuous running fair.

As was reported in the Phillips County News last week, Friday night's Roots & Boots concert drew a whopping 1,698 people, outdrawing last year's LoCash concert by nearly 700.

Saturday featured the AMX Races during the day and Demolition Derby at night. The AMX races' crowd clocked-in at 369 (76 more than 2017) while the Demo Derby stayed consistent and put 766 people in the stands for the event, up by a total of five people.

Rounding out the Fair was Sunday's Ranch Rodeo and Indian Relays which featured more races than last year, and still packed the stands, but drew 1,134 people as opposed to 1,598 in 2017. Phillips County Fair Board member Eric Wilke said that the board and the Race Committee will be working on bringing two-days of Indian Relays to the Fair next year.

The Phillips County Fair Board's next meeting is slated for Tuesday, August 21 at 7 p.m. at Stretch's and the public is welcome to attend.
