    A total of 15 4-H members participated in the 4-H Livestock and 17 members participating in the Miscellaneous Judging on November 6th at the Pavilion in Malta. Youth judged livestock classes of replacement heifers (provided by Hinman Angus), breeding ewes (Barb Wiebe), ewe lambs (Linda Poole), Wool (MSU), bred cows, market swine and chickens (Marcus, Kendra and Kayden Green).     We are celebrating 4-H all month long which is the open enrollment time for 4-H and the beginning of the new year for 4-H. The Phillips County 4-H program is administered through the Phillips County Extension Office along with a 4-H council (local leaders and members). 4-H has been in existence for over 100 years in the State and it was established in Phillips County in 1919.     The Phillips County 4-H Shooting Sports will begin their postal shoot. Youth ages nine as of October 1, 2016 through age 18 are eligible to participate in air rifle and archery. Youth need to be 12 years old in order to participate in air pistol. Shooting times in Malta will begin at 1 p.m. and end by 6 p.m. on Sunday for air rifle and air pistol. Archery will be offered on Sunday and Monday’s only.   • Phillips County 4-H hosts Toy for Tots

    The Phillips County 4-H program is hosting the Toys for Tots program in Phillips County this year in which we try each year to give a child one toy that they have put on their wish list. The children that Toys for Tots enjoy helping range in age from birth to 12 years old. We will be posting a list of suggested toys at the sites where we have collection boxes.     The Phillips County 4-H Shooting Sports will begin their postal shoot on November 22 and 23. Youth ages 9 as of October 1, 2015 through age 18 are eligible to participate in air rifle and archery. Youth need to be 12 years old in order to participate in air pistol. There will be a safety night for first time shooters on November 15th at 2 pm at Stretch’s and also at 4 pm in Saco at the Saco bus barn.
