We had one more small snowstorm, but it was all gone again after one day of sunshine. They had more in other parts of the state, and the roads were bad. The Milk River has been at flood stage for some time now, we have been under flash flood warnings a couple of times but so far it has not come into Dodson. Farther west it has come out of the banks. Condolences are sent out to Tina and Jack Has The Eagle and family and friends in the loss of Donald Has The Eagle. Always sad to lose someone...

We returned from Billings on Tuesday evening and had rain in places all the way home. We were very surprised at the amount of snow that had disappeared. Then on Wednesday, it rained all day in spurts, finally seeing the sun again on Thursday. On Friday the weather station at Glasgow called to have someone check on a suspected ice block that might cause major flooding. The block seemed to be about two miles west by the Milk River bridge. We were put on an alert for flash flooding for several...

Warmer temperatures have arrived and there is water almost everywhere. Beginning to be a little flooding in places. Hope farmer’s reservoirs are being filled up and it all isn't coming where it isn't necessary. There are still a lot of drifts and piles of snow to melt. Holy Week has come and gone so I hope everyone had a good Easter. There were services all over so everyone should have had a chance to share the season with prayers, our Lord, and friends. My son Bill came and took me to Havre, so...

More cold, wind, and snow on Sunday. Typical Spring Easter stormy weather but we've had enough. Please let us see some warmer weather for a while. Dora Henry rode to Havre with son Bill on Tuesday for Doctor's appointment and rode home on Thursday with Polly Solberg and Vivian Bruckner. While there she went to Lenten services on Wednesday at First Lutheran---combined with the Messiah Lutheran. It was a very nice service. I understand there were no trains running on Tuesday so Velyma’s d...

Our weather has been cold and nasty every day and temperatures are never very high, but we did not get this last snow that some of the state did. I think spring ran away and hid on that first day. Velyma Broadhead and daughter Anita Manns returned from their trip to Mexico, and after a couple of days to Joliette, have been home. Anita is staying with her mom for a few days. Polly Solberg met the train on Friday to greet their niece and family who came from Minnesota for a few days. They are...

Thanks to all the little elves who help me. Bringing mail/lunch, clearing my sidewalks, and checking on me. You are special and much appreciated. Tim and Heidi Solberg of Billings helped Polly Solberg home on Thursday, stayed for Connie's gathering on Saturday, and went home on Sunday. Thanks to Tim for bringing all my mail to me on Friday. Tim sent a picture back to Polly's camera, that Billings had a 54-degree temp. Velyma Broadhead had dental work done on Friday. A get-together with Connie...

It is still staying cold and miserable and over the weekend we had one of the worst storms of the winter. It snowed and blew hard from the east and dumped about eight inches of snow on the two feet or so that was already there and after the winds arranged it in drifts where there had not been drifts it was a lot of snow to get moved. Then there is a large water break that is wasting a lot of water downtown and is flooding quite an area. The community was saddened with the death of lifelong...

We have had several little storms so we are back to normal----deep snow and little ground showing. Only one week to daylight savings time and one more week to the first day of spring. I still think that big old Robin Red Breast was lost!! Polly Solberg went to Billings on Saturday----to visit Tim and family for a while, and I think she chose the right day---to beat the storms. Everyone seems to be staying pretty close to home, would be easy to get stuck in the streets. Nice to see and visit...

This past week has us all hoping that spring is somewhere around the corner and we'll see some of it soon. We had below zero temps all week long and acquired a little more snow. Polly Solberg has been in Bozeman all week for the games so she could see Devon preform. Of course, the roads were not inviting most of the week either. We had a very good lunch at the center last week, (Chili and Indian fry bread), Good to eat and good for the body on a cold, cold day. The girls make excellent fry...

We have seen lots of water from the warmer sun and the winds that blow every day. It has been quite nice but the next five days are to be very cold again and some places are to get quite a bit of snow. Our winter just gets longer and longer. At least it stayed a little better while the tournaments were on, so they had some relief. The teams really played their hearts out. Polly Solberg went to Billings Thursday to visit her son Tim, and family. Robbie Bear was in town for a couple of days...

We had a week of much warmer weather----getting up into the 30s and 40s and one day inched past 50 for a short time. It did settle the snow in several places but we still have lots in all the yards and on the streets. It's supposed to go back to the 30s and less this week again. We did see a little activity during the warmer days, even some people looking at available houses. There was Bingo at the school on Sunday. We lost another long-time resident on Friday with the passing of Al Minugh at...

The weather and the world are staying about the same. It stays cold and we still have most of our snow. I have always enjoyed winter but think I have changed my mind this year. It has finally warmed up enough that we are seeing some water at the edges finally. The teams played some hard games on Saturday with Poplar and unfortunately lost the games. Sorry, you played hard. Polly Solberg went to Havre on Thursday and while there visited several old friends at the nursing home. Polly Solberg and...

It is still staying cold and looks like no relief for a while. We said goodbye to two members of our community this week with the funerals of Travis Scheffelmaer on Friday and the funeral of long-time resident Betty Munson on Saturday. Betty had a short but very fitting funeral service at the Wilderness Home and then was interned at the Dodson Hillside cemetery. Condolences again to their families. Thanks to the Dodson Ladies who served lunch at the Sacred Heart Hall. It was nice to see some of...

STILL STAYING COLD --was thawing good in Havre on Friday. Was hoping it would make its way down here. Again, Thank You to all the good-hearted elves that seem to keep my path from door to road cleared. Never seem to see you but please know you are very much appreciated!!! Polly Solberg was in Havre on Friday and visited friends, etc. at the nursing homes. She visited Betty Munson who was recovering in the nursing home and was moving to the Hospice. We are all saddened to learn on Sunday that...

December 28. Christmas has come and gone for another year. Very cold and then it started raining, so got slick all over. I went to Havre and the Messiah Lutheran Church had a nice Christmas Eve Service led by Marilyn Henry. It rained on Monday and some on Tuesday. Bill brought me home Tuesday and when he returned to Havre it rained hard from the river bridge to Chinook. Different ones reported rain in other places from Missoula and on East and North. Temps made it to the high 30’s. The trains we...

Just when we thought that it could not get any worse and colder----it fooled us and it did both. All week the temps were down, but Saturday night it got much colder and dumped approximately another six or more inches of snow on us. Hard to tell as the wind blew and we had crazy drifts everywhere. Thank Heaven we have some special people around to thank as they take one more step toward heaven. Some of the kind people that were so good to me this week and earned my grateful thanks include Polly...

This week of Sunday, December 11, is cold and I was told today that the next two weeks were to be even colder. They talk of the global warming, but it seems to be getting global colding to me. Sunday (today) had heavy snowing in Havre and west of us today. We could use less for a while and then some in a couple months to fill reservoirs and water holes. By then we might start getting a little warmth. There were only a few people out at the center for lunch on Friday, but they had a very nice...

WE FOUND THIS WEEK VERY COLD ALL WEEK. On Thursday there was a very small skiff of snow. Friday started out again below zero, but at noon when the sun was high in the south it actually felt quite warm. It's awful to talk about the weather all the time but it is certainly on everyone's mind, it sort of determines what we do, go, or wear. It's sad that even in this cold weather one house was reported broken into and things were stolen. I guess we always have thieves. Thanks go out again to Velyma...

I was in Havre for Thanksgiving and except for very small piles at corners where they cleaned the streets, it is entirely bare. Lots of water around where the snow had melted. We were not so fortunate. We still have about half snow cover. It is staying pretty cold still-----got up to 42 today but has slipped down to 36 already now. Supposed to get really cold and I'm sure it will make it. The records have said this is one of the coldest Novembers, only about 5 days around normal. The forecast...

The Wapatau Center served a good Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday in-house, and it was well attended. It was very cold, but everyone seemed to enjoy the social companionship and the good food. Terri Cole left for Billings early Thursday morning. Polly Solberg left for Billings on Thursday also. The end of the week saw slightly warmer temperatures with the sun making it through the maze and less wind. Thanks to the unsung angels (Bonnie and Jerry) for clearing my walks and car. Hope to get the...

The cold has sure stayed in and is breaking records for this date all over. It is an awful lot of snow on the ground too and they predict more. In some places, the snowfall has been more in the low places than it has been in the mountains. The town has been quite quiet----maybe because of the bitter cold. We wish all having a birthday or an anniversary best wishes and congratulate each and every one of them. Doing business without advertising is like winking at a girl in the dark----you know...

It has been such a change, but we have definitely changed from the very hot to the very cold. The new track is looking very nice, now if it just stays that way till spring when the grass starts growing. It should be better now that it has been raised and refinished. Things have seemed very quiet lately--must be the weather. Pickles has her yard all picked up and looking so nice. The rest of us should be so ambitious. Ava has been cleaning hers also after they got her sewer connected. The girls...

Thirty-seven of my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren came from all over to honor me with a 90th birthday party. This was a day I sincerely thought I would never see. The only down of that day could and quite unexpectedly only be the terrible first winter storm of, the season. Winter was definitely here. It was very nice, and I thank all the people I have known for so long for coming to wish me well and for all, the cards, etc. I received. On Sunday the town council and Mayor Aroch...

We were really surprised to wake up Sunday morning to our first snowstorm of the season & very cold temperatures. We were sorry to hear of the death of Danny Williams' wife, Carol. Condolences are sent to the whole family. Her funeral is planned for next week. Thirty-seven members of Dora Henry's family were here for a celebration of her 90th birthday & the honoring of Dodson's two former women mayors. Some families traveled from out of state and were surprised by our Montana weather. Family her...

Froze quite hard again last night but then turned into a pretty nice day. Supposed to start warming up for a few days tomorrow. The Mortenson's had a nice day yesterday for their outdoor wedding at the farm. Congratulations to the newlyweds. No one was around much today---taking advantage of the nice weather to shop and visit. Congratulations to all having a birthday or anniversary. It takes a lot of courage to show your dream to someone else. Don't confuse having a career with having a life....
